Jackson’s Legacy

Before Dawg-Tec, there was Jackson. He was family, a companion, and the dog who helped me understand how much responsibility comes with being trusted.

He was strong, sensitive, and full of energy. He needed structure and patience. The years I shared with him shaped the questions that eventually became Relay Harness™.

I was managing two large dogs, Jackson and Colby. Remote training had been useful, but the collars could shift and need repeated adjustment. I noticed Jackson tuck his tail when I brought out the remote-training collar. That was my experience with him, and it made me think about our trust.

Walking harnesses helped with handling, but did not provide that remote function. I started looking for a harness that could bring the functions together differently. I couldn’t find the exact combination I was looking for, so I drew it on paper.

A patent attorney told me it was something I could pursue. I filed for patent protection and began turning the drawings into working prototypes. Each version taught me more about pressure, fit, placement, and construction.

Jackson’s part in this story belongs to that early development. Those prototypes were not the current Relay build.

That work resulted in U.S. Patent No. 12,426,575 for an Obedience Training Pet Leash and Harness System, issued September 30, 2025, naming me, Christian Delgado, as inventor.

My original vision also included a retractable-leash system.

Relay Harness™ is the first phase of that broader vision. The retractable-leash component remains part of the longer-term plan and is intended for a future phase. It is not part of the current Relay Harness offering.
